Since the short-term team has left:
There have been many things that I have had to do since arriving back in Ostrava after leaving the rest of team at the airport in Prague. The first full day in Ostrava was a busy one. I met with the realtor that found my apartment along with the owner to sign the lease. Upon seeing the apartment, it looked beautiful but there was no refrigerator. This came as a surprise to both Petr and I. Later that day I registered with the police in the area which is required for foreigners. Friday I bought a refrigerator as well as a washer because laundry mats are very rare in the Czech Republic. In the afternoon I met with Petr and Pavel who have both been working with the youth over the last two years to discuss a plan of action. I was able to hear about the history of the group and we came up with a plan of action to begin with. Friday night I spent the evening with a family from the Czech church that live about 50m from my front door. On Saturday afternoon after having my fridge and washer dropped off, I was able to spend the weekend with a couple from the church as they introduced me to their family. It was pretty funny to try to communicate with their 85 year old grandmother when I couldn't speak Czech to her and she couldn't speak English with me. Sunday afternoon we arrived back in Ostrava in time for the church service. It was a very different experience without the people visiting from the English Camp but it was wonderful to be able to be included in their congregation. An elderly woman was in attendance and earlier this evening Petr told me that he had just returned from meeting with her because she wanted to receive Christ. Praise the Lord! This morning I worked with several of the members of the church at the Awana camp that they host. It was difficult for me to communicate because very few of them know any English but I was able to use some Czech phrases that I know at times and that was helpful. Check out some pictures from the camp.
Pray that these children would come to know the Lord.
In Christ,
Nate
