Checking In

Working Hard

Over the last two weeks I have been quite busy with my weekly responsibilities of leading the youth group, speaking at schools, and leading conversation groups.  During the last full week of October, I did have a lighter week and was able to catch up on a few things and even do some work around the apartment like building some furniture so that I had a couple more places to put things and actually hang some pictures on the the wall.  It made the apartment feel much more like a home.

Looking forward I have several big things that I need to do.  The first thing is that on Saturday, I will be speaking at a youth meeting for the CB youth groups in the region.  The topic is: Slaves of the Church.  The way in which it was phrased is a bit strange but I am pretty certain that they are going for the idea of slave to obedience in Christ.  I have been trying to decide the direction that I will go with my talk but it has been pretty tough.  I have had several days where I worked on it but I have had a tough time finding the right way to present it.  Please pray for the Lord's guidance and wisdom as I will need to finish it up tomorrow.  Pray also for the gathering that people would be both challenged and encouraged during the Friday night and Saturday morning event.  The second thing that I have coming up is a sermon at the Poruba church on the 20th.  I am thankful that I have already chosen my topic but please pray that God would give me clarity as I study and prepare for this sermon.  The third big thing that I have coming up is another sermon at the Poruba church on December 4th.  The elders of the church here have asked me once again to have youth group lead a service during the Christmas season.  I also have an idea about what I will talk about but I could use your prayer when it comes to coming up with creative ways to involve the youth in the service as well.

On a bit of a side note, it has been a very interesting experience talking to and explaining the recent presidential elections.  Many people have been interested to know my opinion about what it might mean for the United States and how it may effect them.  I never really thought that my political science degree would be used in this particular way.

Because of how busy I am this week, I don't have much more time to write but I thought that I would leave you with a few pictures from our Halloween activity with the youth group.
