Marching Forward

A Transition Point

Over the last couple of weeks Youth Revolution has transitioned.  We have some new leadership within the group and a renewed focus on what we are trying to accomplish.  Yesterday after church, I met with Matouš, Eliška and Barča, the new teen leadership of Youth Revolution.  We spoke about what our goals are for the group and ways in which we can accomplish those goals.  Pray for our group as we seek to build relationships, grow in our knowledge and love of the Lord, and of course have a lot of fun in the process.  Pray also for boldness as we really desire to grow the group with people who are fully invested in the group.  I have also begun a series based on Colossians 3:12 which we will be studying over the next several weeks.  The passage says: "Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience."  Pray that we would be able to connect these practical principles to our love for our Savior, Jesus Christ and the way in which he lived out each and everyone of these principles perfectly.

A Gathering of Ostrava Youth Groups

This coming Friday some of our group will be attending a gathering of youth groups from all over Ostrava.  This is not just for Církev bratrská churches but for churches of all denominations.  Over the last year and half our group has met with several other youth groups from all over the area.  Pray that we would be able to get a decent portion of our group to attend and that it would be an edifying evening.

Visiting a New School

Over the last two weeks I have been working on a presentation about the American school system for a school visit that I had last Thursday.  I was invited by Barča and her teacher to come and speak to her class along with an older class.  This was an interesting experience because I got a chance to talk about my own education, showing pictures and videos from Twin Valley High School.  Since it was my first time visiting the school and most of the students haven't had the chance to speak with a native English speaker, most of the students were a bit shy to speak.  The class and the teacher were very pleased with the presentation and would like me to return in the future so hopefully the class will be more comfortable to speak next time.  During my visit I was also able to talk a little bit about the Teen English Conversation group that I lead and several students took flyers for it.  Pray that God would bring some students from this school to the conversation group in order to build relationships and hopefully grow the youth group.
