October Activities

Back to School

School began a bit late for me this year.  Since the originally plan was for me to be studying Czech each day outside of Ostrava, I told the high schools that I had worked in over the last couple of years that I would not be able to help in their classrooms this year.  But as we know, our plans aren't always the same as God's plans.  During the month of September, I was working out things with the schools to see if they still needed me and thankfully, they did.  So two weeks ago, I once again began assisting in English classes.  Besides being in the class of Klára and Terka two weeks ago, I was asked to teach a lesson in the class of Ondra, a teen from the CB Poruba church, who is attending that school for the first time this year.  And tomorrow I will return to the other school that I have spent quite a bit of time in over the last several years to speak about aspects of United States law.  It is great to get back into the schools to continue building on relationships that were started years ago and to make new ones.  In particular, I really enjoy meeting new classes and getting to see what types of questions they will ask about me or the United States.  Not always the kind of questions that you would expect.

Fun Times and New People

Over the last several weeks we have had some wonderful times during our Youth Revolution meetings.  We have continued our study of Galatians and had some great conversations over the topic of the truth and life-changing power of the gospel.  We have also seen a bit more of Martin over the last few weeks and this past Friday evening we had someone new join us.  Her name is Růžna, which means Rose in English.  She is a university student who has been looking for a youth group in the area.  I don't know if she will continue to join us week after week, but she was very active during the lesson and seemed to get along with everyone else.  Please pray that we would see her in the future if it is God's will or at least that she would find at least some group in which to get connected.  This coming weekend, most of our group will be attending Brodfest, which is a national CB youth gathering, which occurs every two years.  Brodfest is an opportunity for youth within the CB denomination from across the country to get a chance to worship together, take part in seminars related to issues that concern young believers and to give them an opportunity to meet new people.  Please pray that this would be a weekend where we as a group would grow closer to God and to each other.

A few picture from our game time two weeks ago.  Each person had to guess the character whose name was taped to their head.  Of course Klára and Anička got a little crazy taking pictures.
