Let It Snow

February Snowfall

Two Wednesdays ago, I experienced the most snowfall in Ostrava that I have seen during my time here.  We received about 5 inches of snow over the course of the day and it was wonderful to look out the window as I worked throughout the day and see the city covered in fresh snow.  What a wonderful reminder of the many blessings that the Lord gives us in the beauty of nature.  I have always loved the way in which snow muffles the regular sounds of the world and creates a quiet winter wonderland.

Finding a Mission Agency

Two weeks ago, my schedule of teaching English lessons and other things was much lighter and I had more time to focus my efforts in working to find a mission agency to work with moving forward.  I spoke via email with several people from the organization, TEAM and in fact spoke with a missionary of TEAM serving in the Prague area about what we are trying to do here in Ostrava and how it connects with what they are doing in and around Prague.  There were some complications because of the distance between Prague and Ostrava, but one of the leaders in the Prague area promised to speak with his boss about it.  Sadly, as I was writing this I received an email from him saying that it would not work out at the moment because of the distance.  Petr and I also attempted to organize a meeting with one of the leaders of International Messengers as he was in Poland last week but somehow he wasn't informed about our desire to meet until too late.  Please be in prayer along with me as I work to find a mission agency to work with while keeping up with all of my regular daily responsibilities.

Youth Revolution

Two Fridays ago, we held our weekly Youth Revolution meeting, but instead of holding it at Církev bratrská it was held at Křesťanské sbory, the local church that CB has been working with throughout the year.  It was a very small group because it was a school holiday and many people were away that day.  None of the teens from CB were there that night but it gave me the opportunity to get to know a few of the teens from the other group a little better.  Robert, their leader, led the discussion.  This past Friday, we were back at CB for the meeting with a bit of a larger group.  Instead of my regular style of teaching, I led a discussion on the topic of freedom.  I must admit that it didn't go as well as I would have wanted it to, but I am prayerful that God used it in the spiritual lives of those who were there.  This coming Friday we will be having our third Progressive Dinner here in Ostrava.  Seven different families have agreed to open up their homes for the teens of both youth groups.  Pray that teens would continue to sign up for the event and that they would get to know each other better, get to know the these families better and have a great evening.

Church Dinner

This past Saturday evening, Církev bratrská held their second church dinner.  They are evenings designed for people from the church to get together, worship the Lord, pray and share a meal with one another.  These meetings have been organized by regular members of the congregation and I was happy to be able to be with them and worship with them for a while on a Saturday night.  Below are a few pictures of some of the children eating before the worship time began.
